Tuesday morning we got up and had breakfast and said goodbye to Minal. Karuna had a good nights sleep and seemed to be okay with all of us. We got in the van and started on our 6 hour trip to Trivandrum. Karuna watched out the window as we went along. We stopped once for something to eat and a bathroom break. Just before we reached Trivandrum, Karuna fell sound asleep. We got to the hotel and decided it was time to cool off in the pool.

On Wednesday we flew from Trivandrum to Delhi. This was Karuna's first plane fight and he was thrilled!! We landed in Delhi in the late afternoon and we went to get something to eat and called it a night.
Thursday morning we had our first appointment at the Embassy to start the process of getting a visa for Karuna. It was very busy there and of course very boring for him. When he gets bored it brings out the naughty in him. He didn't want to sit still at all but who can blame him. An 8 year old that has been in an orphanage all of his life now has the freedom to do whatever he wants and we want him to sit!! We then we went to the Medical facility to do his physical and TB test. Again, we had to wait and naughty boy came out again. After about 30 minutes we got to see the doctor and all was good. THEN came the TB skin test that is required before they can leave India. They took Karuna into another room and Maurice went with him. The rooms were so small I thought it would be better if I just waited with Jess. A few minutes were heard screams coming from the room. My heart broke. Maurice said he wanted NO part of being poked with a needle. It took 5 people to hold him down and he was really angry with us afterwards. He didn't want to get back in the van to go back to the hotel with us, but that soon passed. By the time we got back to the hotel he was better. We eat lunch and naughty Karuna came out again!! This child has so much bottled up energy I wish I could have some :-)
Today(Friday) is going to be our rest, relax, laundry and pool day!! Sunday we are going to the Taj Mahal for the day. Can't wait to see it.

Sounds like you are finding a new sense of normal with a young and energetic boy in it! How wonderful!!

ReplyDeleteGreat idea to stay at a place with a pool -- perfect for all that boyish energy! Good thing he's thrilled about transportation . . . that should help with the car rides and planes in his near future. Enjoy the Taj together!!
