What a week!!!

Well this week started pretty much like any other week for us. School, work etc. This was Jessica's last week of school and also her last week in middle school. YEAH!! Tuesday I had just gotten home and the phone rang and it was my older sister. I could tell by the tone of her voice that she was about to tell me something was wrong. My parents were out east visiting my twin sister and they were in Philly sight seeing. They were just a few steps from getting on the tour bus and my mom caught her foot on a raised piece of concrete and landed face down on the pavement. They took her by ambulance to the hospital nearby and the CT scan showed some blood between the skull and her skin. No fracture thank goodness. They put her in ICU for the night and repeated the CT scan 2 more times and everything was fine. I'm happy to say she is doing better and out of the hospital. So I've been pretty stressed about that most of the week. This morning we got up to go to Jessica's graduation and before we left I decided to check my email since I was going to be gone all day with the events at school. One of the emails was from our adoption agency telling us "I wanted you to know you are getting closer to Guardianship. There is a court date set for the 15th for the Judge to hear your case and this is the 2nd to the last court date. The next court date you should receive verbal approval. In some cases families have received verbal approval at this stage, but normally not. Let’s hope for the best. I will keep you updated as I receive more information" I couldn't believe we are getting closer to getting Karuna home. I continue to pray for the other 2 families who are also waiting on guardianship. I will keep you posted!!

  1. Your nerves must be shot after this week! With the bad news, then better news about your mom, then the surprise (and LONG-awaited) news about court . . . wow! I will be praying for Karuna's case to move quickly through each step -- it's exciting to see the wheels slowly begin turning to bring him and other kids home!

  2. Talk about emotional highs and lows! So thrilled to hear about Karuna's case and that your mom is okay. I've marked the 15th on my calendar awaiting further good news soon!
